Classic Works of Art Made with Jelly Beans
A few years ago, California-based artist Kristen Cumings was commissioned by candy company Jelly Belly to produce several pieces of jelly bean art to add to its collection ‘Jelly Belly Masterpieces of Confectionary Art’.
Cumings recreated classic works of art using 9,000 to 12,000 jelly beans and 50 to 60 hours, for each 4x6-feet mural.

Make your own bookish birdhouse
BOOKISH BIRDHOUSE SUPPLIES:* Pre-assembled, unfinished wood birdhouse (see specific suggestions below supply list)* Sandpaper (fine grain is probably best)* Cheap acrylic paint (also called “craft paint”) — usually about $1 for each small bottle, available in every color imaginable* Paintbrushes — various sizes for painting, one good sturdy one for pasting* Scissors* Yes Paste (or Mod Podge or PVA if you prefer) — you can purchase it from any craft store* Colored pencils to use as perches* A book you don’t mind disassembling, or an F & G (“folded and gathered” picture book proof)Other things you might need/want:
* Pliers (for removing perches) — see Step 2* Sealant (if you want to protect your finished birdhouse) — see Step 7 for my recommendations
* a Dowel Rod (if you don’t want to use pencils as perches) — see Step 8

Whether you love it, hate it, or just love to hate it, if you’re a design fan then you’ve definitely noticed the trend toward color-coded bookshelves in recent years. What began as a styling trick for magazines and catalogues now pops up in homes the world over, and not without debate.

Reconfigured Sheet Music Collages
Beautiful collages by Princeton-based artist Erika Iris who deftly reconfigures sheet music to create portraits and other illustrations. The Beethoven and MLK pieces are especially wonderful, but don’t miss some of her other works with paper or her portraits made from cassette tape and old film.
